Morgan picked up the viola when she joined middle school strings as a 7th grader and she has shown that hard work and a good attitude pays off, catching up quickly with her classmates who mostly started at 5th grade. She has some proven tips for musicians of all ages. Congratulations on being recognized November Music Student of the Month in 2020!
“Count the beat to be synced with everyone, and just take out your instrument. It’s surprisingly hard to do that, but if you take it out, you can practice. Recording yourself playing a piece really helps find mistakes too.”
Orcas Middle School Strings student, Morgan Anderson
The Music Student of the Month series recognizes Orcas Island Public School musicians who work hard at their musical skills and whose love of music is an inspiration to their fellow student musicians. Thank you so much to the Orcas Island businesses who are sponsoring this monthly series throughout the 2020-21 school year that recognizes the efforts of student musicians and the value of school music!
