Early access to music education during his elementary school years has given Carlitos the chance to learn the violin from a young age. He credits playing music with giving him a “surge of creativity” and allowing him more room for expression. OISD Strings Director Pamela Wright commended his hard work and commitment to practice, noting that he has excelled this year. Way to go, Carlitos!
Mark your calendar for the final All-District Strings concert on Thursday, June 5, at 7 PM at the Orcas Center. Carlitos and fellow string students will be performing select pieces from various competitions this year, as well as from their recent Disney trip.
Also, don’t miss the All-District Band concert on Tuesday, June 3, at 7 PM in the High School gym.
Instrument Zoo is on June 10, during school hours. Current 4th graders will have the opportunity try out and select their choice of musical instrument to learn next year. If you know a local 4th grader, do ask them about the musical instrument they are interested in learning in school.
