Making music education available in the public school curriculum, from elementary through high school, gives students the opportunity to explore learning different musical instruments to find the one that they will enjoy. Jose is a great example of a student who was able to try out a different instrument this year. Mr. Dix, the OISD Band Director, has watched this young musician grow in skill level and confidence since switching to percussion. Congratulations, Jose! We look forward to hearing you play at the upcoming Band concert on Tuesday, June 2, at 7PM in the High School gym.
With Grade 4 Instrument Zoo coming up in June, this is a great time to discuss with a local 4th grader you may know about the musical instrument they are interested in learning in school.
