A saxophonist in the high school band, Wren works diligently to improve her performance skills and one of the things she appreciates about participating in the school music program is getting to travel off-island for competitions to see other bands and hear different levels of playing. Together with fellow high school musicians, Wren is raising funds for a trip to Disneyland this Spring where they will work with Disney studio musicians. “It opens your eyes to the possibilities,” she shared. Congratulations, Wren!
We look forward to hearing these talented students as well as community musical groups like Turtleback Brass, the Orcas Island Community Band and the Orcas Choral Society ensemble at the School Music Benefit Concert on Sunday, March 2nd, at 3 PM in the high school gym. All are invited.

The Music Student of the Month series recognizes Orcas Island Public School musicians who work hard at their musical skills and whose love of music is an inspiration to their fellow student musicians. Thank you so much to the Orcas Island businesses who are sponsoring this monthly series throughout the 2024-25 school year that recognizes the efforts of student musicians and the value of school music!
