Music Student of the Month, December 2025 — On January 9th and 10th, four Orcas Island high school band students participated in the Pacific Lutheran University Northwest High School Honor Band in Tacoma, along with about 250 student musicians from Idaho, Oregon and Washington. This event included a morning audition, PLU faculty concert, instrument master-classes, long rehearsals, and an evening of final performances. Congratulations to Kai G, Neave G, Angelo V, and Orlando L for being selected for this great opportunity! One week from Thursday! Let the sweet voices of students from Orcas Island Elementary School warm your hearts on a winter’s evening. K-3rd grade students are the youngest participants in the public school music program. We hope to see you! Happy New Year! This festive concert will feature a diverse selection of music, from classical to contemporary, performed by the Orcas High School Band, directed by Darren Dix, and Strings, directed by Pamela Wright.
